Dallas is one of the most naturally engaging and popular factual presenters working in television.
He is best known as co-presenter of BBC One’s Bang Goes The Theory – now in its sixth series - ‘putting science to the test’, as well as demystifying some of the bewildering science that underpins our universe, and the everyday science that underpins our lives.
He is just as happy on stage, performing Bang Live! for the last two years to huge audiences up and down the country.
As well as his work on Bang, Dallas is now fronting solo flagship BBC One projects, including a huge three-part engineering series scheduled for broadcast this year. In 2010 he turned Indiana Jones, co-presenting the high-profile Egypt's Lost Cities – a feature-length documentary that used new satellite technology to hunt for previously undiscovered historical treasures.
On BBC Four he is a regular presenter of the Horizon Guide series – an archive show that charts the progress of scientists through 50 years of the BBC’s Horizon series, and The Drake Equation: The Search for Life – a personal investigation into the science and history behind our efforts to find life beyond the Earth.
Before joining the BBC he co-presented Channel Five's technology programme The Gadget Show, and Dallas Campbell's Guide To The Impossible/Dallas in Wonderland - a self-penned investigative comedy series for the Discovery Channel in America, in which he attempted the impossible in the name of rational enquiry. Trying to break the men’s 100m record and journeying to the centre of the Earth were all in a day's work.
Before he moved into factual presenting he worked as an actor in some of the UK's most popular television shows including the comedy series Never Better with Stephen Mangan, Casualty, Holby City, the science fiction film Doomwatch, A Touch Of Frost, and Moll Flanders. In the theatre he often worked with legendary director and force of nature (the late) Ken Campbell on a variety of projects, notably the The Warp, the world's longest play, running at an eye-watering 29 hours.
He is a regular contributor to the BBC’s Science magazine Focus, and The Times’ Eureka magazine and has appeared on Radio Four’s comedy science show Infinite Monkey Cage, with Robin Ince and Brian Cox.
When not investigating Life, the Universe and everything, or risking life and limb as a human guinea pig, Dallas enjoys cooking, is an accomplished amateur magician and was a ski instructor in the Cairngorms, although much of his spare time is spent cleaning up after his two children, James and Anna.
